Experience

Carla is a qualified teacher and is currently writing her second novel whilst studying for a PhD. She has taught English one way or another for the past seventeen years and is passionate about how creative writing can be used to improve mental health. Carla runs ‘Creative Writing for Wellbeing’ courses and workshops for people of all ages and backgrounds through her business RAW WRITING and loves to see the difference these sessions can make. Over the past three years, she has experimented with a range of forms, and has had success in the following competitions: 2022 Long Longlisted Brick Lane Short Story Award, 2021 Shortlisted for Bridport Short Story Award, 2021 Highly Commended Spread the Word Life Writing Prize,2021 Second Place Curtis Brown Cheerio Scholarship,2020 Longlisted for Bridport First Novel Award.

Qualifications:
Carla recently completed her Masters in Creative Writing at Exeter University, gaining a distinction and writing her first novel which is due for publication with Hachette in May 2024. Carla is a graduate of The Novelry Ninety Day Course and has also completed their Big Edit course. She has a BA (hons) English Language and Literature, full QTS status (Secondary English) and CELTA

Skills & Interests:
Writing in all its wonderfully varied forms, from poetry to the novel, life-writing and short stories. I am passionate about helping others to find their voice on the page.
