Description:
Read Write Express offer workshops for adults who wish to explore writing as a means of improving wellbeing, gaining confidence and moving forward with life.
The workshops provide a nurturing and supportive space to experience different writing and other fun, releasing and relaxing exercises to help participants stimulate their creativity and encourage self-awareness. Writing experience not essential, just a willingness to join in and give it a go.
Writing is optionally shared with the group and participants are encouraged to respond from their own experience of hearing it as opposed to offering a critique. This is the difference between writing for self development and creative writing for literary development. Writing and voicing writing in this way can be therapeutic but these workshops are not group therapy and participants need to be aware of this when choosing what to write or share
Classes held monthly. Check website for dates.
Growing: Through reading, visualisation, free-writing and sharing, we will contemplate the theme of "growing" both in the natural world and in ourselves and explore how we might grow. To book, click here.

“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others”. Pericles
Your legacy is being created every day. With every choice you make, you shape the world around you and add to the legacy that you’ll leave behind. By crafting a legacy that you’re proud of, you can enrich your own life and the lives of others – now and in the future.
We’ll use carefully selected poems as springboards for conversation and self-reflective writing. You’ll get the chance to deepen your understanding of yourself and explore the impression you are making on the world.
Together, we’ll define the legacy you wish to leave and create a bold new future.
Come along to all six workshops, or just join one or two. If you’re able to attend the full series then you’ll get the most from the experience, but you’re also welcome to sign up to individual sessions. Join me to start crafting your legacy.
Charmaine Pollard is an experienced poetry therapist, counsellor and life coach with a passion for leading therapeutic writing workshops to promote health and wellbeing.

Behind our Hidden Face: An Exploration of the Limitations and Liberties of Social Masking, a writing for wellbeing workshop.
The current obligation to wear a mask in many communal settings may be changing the way we interact socially.
In this one-day workshop, Andy Devonshire and Lucy Windridge examine personal and critical responses to masks and face coverings in the light of social, political and historical questions.
Using Creative Writing as a method of inquiry, Andy Devonshire and Lucy Windridge will be looking at the significance of wearing face coverings as well as providing insights into the nature of the psychological masks we wear. The aim is to dispel myths, promote inquiry and offer insights as to how we might come to understand ourselves, our current dilemmas and cultural divides.

Description:
Open to all adults, these set of four themed workshops are offered for those wishing to explore creative and enjoyable ways of enhancing their self-expression, reflection and wellbeing through writing. The focus in this group is on the process of writing, and less so on the final ‘product,’ in refreshing contrast to so much of our working lives focussed on outcomes and productivity. In this way, Writing for Wellbeing differs from Creative Writing groups, where the writing produced/in-progress, is the focus of peer feedback.
Instead, these workshops provide a supportive, confidential space to try out a range of enjoyable writing activities, using a blend of creative, expressive and reflective writing approaches, including poetry, fiction, quotes, images and other mixed media, as ‘writing prompts’; participants are then invited to share their writing, but are not obligated to so, and are certainly and not coerced to share anything unless they feel comfortable to do so.
No formal experience is needed, just a willingness to give writing a go!
As well as being a published poet and short fiction writer, and trained Writing for Wellbeing Facilitator (MA Creative Writing & Personal Development, Sussex University 2005), Storied Selves facilitator Dr Roshni Beeharry, is a former Consultant-level NHS doctor with over 25 years of experience of caring for people, teaching, supporting and mentoring others, in her capacity as doctor and highly experienced medical educator.Roshni is also open to commissions for design and facilitation of workshops for teams and organisations including the NHS and Higher Education settings, and in healthcare and social care with patients/service users-please do not hesitate to contact her via the Storied Selves website to discuss further.

Open to those in all healthcare fields including clinicians, academics and students and trainees, these set of four themed workshops are offered for those wishing to explore creative and enjoyable ways of enhancing their self-expression, reflection and wellbeing through writing. The focus in this group, is on the process of writing, and less so on the final ‘product,’ in refreshing and liberating contrast to so much of our professional lives focussed on outcomes and productivity. I believe that this type of writing can provide an enjoyable adjunct to the mandatory reflective writing portfolios at work e.g E Portfolio systems.
