Opportunity: Volunteer with Lapidus Magazine

Help inspire the writing for wellbeing community.

We’re looking for volunteers to help produce Lapidus Magazine, our online, biannual publication exploring the connections between writing, creativity and wellbeing.

Created by and for the Lapidus community, the magazine features articles, practitioner reflections, creative prompts, research insights and community contributions. Each issue explores a different theme and celebrates the diverse voices and practices within our field.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for people with skills and interest in areas including:

• Working with writers and contributors to share their work,
• Coordinating open calls, themes and submissions,
• Editing, copy editing and proof reading,
• Designing and preparing the magazine for publication online and in print,
• Sourcing great images to accompany written pieces,
• Supporting the promotion and administration of the magazine. 

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and with a range of experiences. If you feel you have something to offer Lapidus Magazine that isn’t listed here, we’d still love to hear from you!

Previous relevant experience is helpful but not essential. We hope you will have an interest in writing for wellbeing, good communication and organisational skills, and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a remote team. You will value inclusion and enjoy helping others share their ideas. 

You will need to be confident using online tools like email, Zoom, word processors and simple spreadsheets. We can provide training and support with other programmes such as Canva as needed. 

What does it involve, and what will I get from it? 

This is an opportunity to develop editorial and publishing skills, connect with the Lapidus community and help shape a valued member publication. Magazine volunteers will work collaboratively as a team and with the support of the Lapidus board and staff. 

We expect that the time commitment will be a few hours a month, with some additional time likely to be needed around publication. We hope to find a pool of several people who are able to share magazine tasks, with support from our team. At present, the magazine is published twice a year. 

Volunteers will be eligible for a free Lapidus membership after a probationary period, in line with our new Recognition & Rewards policy.
