There are a lot of events going on at the moment, run both by ourselves and our members. We don't want you to miss out, so please find below a summary of the events happening over the next two months. We'll continue to update it every time someone sends in something new!

Summer Solstice Writing Festival

Date: Saturday, 20th June 2020

Come along to our next festival on 20th June and celebrate the start of summer with some online writing workshops! With the fantastic line up of Charmaine Pollard, Christina Thatcher and Mel Perry, it's sure to be a fantastic event!

 


Writing Our Path

Date: Thursday, 25th June 2020 (and every Thursday until 30th July)

Time: 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Cost: £13.52 per session

Description: 

A workshop series for those new to journalling or regular journalisers looking for some fresh momentum. Sessions can be booked as a whole course - though each is self-contained and can be booked as a one-off.

 


Lapidus Scotland AGM

Date: Thursday, 25th June 2020 

Time: 5:30pm to 6:30pm

Description: 

The AGM will formally present a report on work during the 2018/19 financial year, elect a committee and give an overview of the work of Lapidus Scotland. We also look forward to hearing some of our writers read their work. We will be expanding the management committee, so please consider this chance to get involved with our work. When circumstances allow we will be having some face to face meetings in Glasgow, but we have decided to keep most meetings on line.

This event offers you an opportunity to ask the questions you may have about some of the panels’ experiences of practising and publishing research related to the field of writing as a therapeutic practice, which we hope will be a starting point for further learning and discussion.  


Hope in Poetry: Lunchtime Poetry Reading Together

Poetry of Consolation

Poetry has the capacity to express emotion, distil experience and get the heart of the matter. It can offer fresh insight, sustain the spirit, inspire and delight us with its music. We may naturally turn to it in extraordinary times. What poems have particularly sustained you in recent months - an old favourite, a new discovery? Join Chester Cathedral’s Poet-in-Residence and share a poem at a lunchtime poetry gathering online as the Cathedral waits to re-open fully. You could bring a poem you have written yourself over this period if you prefer. Or come simply to listen.


Therapeutic Writing with the 5 Senses

Our awareness seems to have been heightened in recent months and a hyper-sensitivity to our encounter with our environment has been described by many. As we seek to hold a fragile balance in uncertain times, the use of our five senses may be significant and supportive. This online workshop is designed to for enjoyment, using verbal expression and writing as we focus on our interaction with the world and explore our emotions in relation to our sensory experiences.


Moving Words about Covid

Date: Tuesday, 28th July 2020 

Time: 8:00pm to 8:40pm

Description: 

A one-off therapeutic movement and writing workshop is being set up by Dr. Bonnie Meekums, for low-paid workers in the UK who have been negatively affected by coronavirus.

You do not need any prior experience of movement or creative writing to take part, and neither do you need to be able bodied. All exercises can be adapted to your circumstances.

Places are limited to eight participants, so early application is advised.
