News From The Board

Dear Members,

In light of the recent race riots in the UK and the subsequent surge of related content on social media, Lapidus International Writing Group feels it is both necessary and urgent to address these developments within the context of our commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and our ethical responsibilities.

We are deeply saddened and concerned by the events that have unfolded, which have laid bare the persistent issues of racial inequality and injustice within our society. As writers, facilitators, and advocates for the healing power of words, we have a unique role to play in responding to these challenges with thoughtfulness, compassion, and a commitment to justice.

Social media, while a powerful tool for raising awareness and mobilising action, can also become a breeding ground for misinformation, hostility, and division. We must be vigilant in how we engage with these platforms, ensuring that our contributions promote understanding, solidarity, and constructive dialogue.

Lapidus International reaffirms our dedication to fostering spaces that are inclusive and respectful of all voices, particularly those that have been historically marginalised. We encourage our members to use their writing and facilitation skills to amplify the narratives of those affected by racial violence and to advocate for systemic change.

As we navigate these difficult times, let us remain united in our shared purpose to support one another and to contribute positively to the broader societal conversation. Our collective efforts can help to heal wounds, challenge injustices, and build a more equitable future for all.
