Lapidus Day 12 - This little light of mine

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine

Let it shine, let shine, let it shine.  Etc…..

Sunset today marks the first of the 8 nights of the ancient Jewish Festival of Hanukkah, which moves around according to the Jewish calendar. It is a Festival of Lights to celebrate an old story of a minority group winning freedom against oppression.

As with so many other festivals of this time it involves candles - for hope and light in darkness, special songs, special food, and of course, the giving of gifts, and a general feeling of goodwill towards one’s fellow beings.

So as I can’t pop a chocolate inside this door, here are some words for wellbeing instead.

It’s works even better if you sing them! This is not a Jewish song but my late husband was a British Jew and he often sang this to boost his his morale when he felt less than confident.  Works every time.

Don’t let anyone blow out your little light.

Mazel tov!
