Opportunity: Volunteer Co-Editors for the LIRIC Journal

Lapidus International is seeking passionate, experienced, and community-minded volunteer Co-Editors to work with the editorial Board of LIRIC journal (Lapidus International Research and Innovation Community).

LIRIC is an international, peer-reviewed, cross-disciplinary journal that explores the relationship between writing, words, wellbeing, and therapeutic practice. It provides a platform for innovative, creative, and practice-based research, bringing together academics, practitioners, and creatives across health, education, and the arts.

This is a voluntary, remote role, ideal for practitioners, academics and researchers in writing for wellbeing, expressive arts, mental health, or related fields. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the direction of a growing journal at the intersection of research, creativity, and wellbeing.

About Lapidus

Lapidus International is an organisation dedicated towards writing for wellbeing, soon to become a Community Interest Company (CIC). We support a diverse membership whose interests include personal writing, facilitation, research and therapy. We deliver a growing programme of events and resources exploring how writing can support mental and emotional wellbeing.

Our work spans professional development, community learning and public engagement, and we are committed to inclusive, accessible and high-quality creative practice.

Role description

As a Co-Editor, you will play a leading role in shaping the scholarly direction of the journal, ensuring its continued development, academic integrity, and relevance to practitioner and scholarly readers. There will be additional support from the Editorial Assistant and Production Editor.

Key services to be provided include:

  • Working collaboratively with the editorial board to lead the editorial vision and direction of LIRIC Journal
  • Initial reviewing of submissions to ensure their aligned with LIRIC’s focus and scope
  • Overseeing the peer-review process, ensuring quality, rigour, and fairness
  • Making editorial decisions and guiding authors through revisions
  • Ensuring ethical publishing standards are upheld
  • Contributing to increasing the visibility, reach, and impact of the journal
  • Maintaining alignment between research, practice, and creative expression        
  • Writing or co-writing Editorials
  • Contributing to policy development, issue planning, and innovation
  • Championing LIRIC across networks, conferences, and digital platforms
  • Ensuring an inclusive, ethical, and community-focused editorial culture

Person specification

We are looking for someone with:

  • Editorial, personal publications or peer-review experience
  • A commitment to ethical, compassionate scholarly practice
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and balance involvement with availability
  • Inclusive, community-based leadership values

Please note: Our team operates in the UK timezone (GMT/BST). While the successful candidate will not necessarily be UK-based, they will need to be able to collaborate with colleagues at suitable hours.
