10 Ways to Be Part of Lapidus International:

A Community for Writing, Wellbeing, and Emotional Growth

A welcoming, values-led community for writers, facilitators, therapists, and researchers using words to support wellbeing.

If you’re drawn to the idea that writing can support emotional healing, reflection, and wellbeing-you’re not alone. Lapidus International brings together a diverse network of people who believe in the expressive and therapeutic power of words. Whether you’re using journalling to manage stress, facilitating creative writing groups, or researching the connection between writing and mental health, Lapidus offers spaces to grow, share, and belong.

Harness the power of writing for wellbeing-and make it part of your life through regular practice, connection, and creative reflection.

  1. Be Heard: Publish in the Lapidus Magazine

Lapidus Magazine is created by members, for members. It’s a space to share experiences, explore ideas, and showcase the many ways writing and wellbeing enrich our lives. We welcome contributions from all kinds of writers-practitioners, poets, researchers, educators, students, and those simply following their curiosity.

Whether you’ve got a personal story, a creative piece, or an article to share, you’ll find a supportive editorial team led by myself and Alison Cable.

Get involved: Check out the submissions guide and submit your work here.

  1. Join the Conversation: Lapidus Living Research Community (LLRC)

The LLRC is a vibrant, member-led space for anyone interested in arts-based research. Monthly Zoom meetups and a lively Facebook group are easy and inspiring ways to connect, share resources, and grow your understanding of creative, qualitative, and embodied approaches to research.

You don’t need to be an academic to take part-just someone with a curious mind and a love of learning through the arts.

Get involved: Join the Facebook group and explore the LLRC webpage.

  1. Take Your Ideas Further: Publish in LIRIC

The Lapidus International Research and Innovation Community (LIRIC) is our peer-reviewed research journal. It offers a platform for critical and creative exploration of writing and wellbeing. It’s ideal for those ready to move beyond a dissertation or personal project and share ideas with a wider audience.

Support is available for new and emerging writers–your work could sit alongside international voices in the field.

Get involved: Read submission guidance, contact liriceditor@lapidus.org.uk or read our blog about LIRIC here.

  1. Connect, Celebrate and Learn: Creative Bridges Conference

Held every two years, Creative Bridges is a flagship event that brings together facilitators, researchers, artists, and therapists to celebrate the rich, interdisciplinary field of writing for wellbeing.

For many, it’s a place to connect, be inspired by others’ practice, and take part in creative exploration through talks, workshops, and shared writing experiences. If you’re ready, it’s also a chance to present your own work and ideas in a warm and supportive community.

Next event: August 2025. Call for papers deadline: 1st May 2025.

  1. Share What You Do: Market Your Work

As a member, you can:

We actively promote members’ work across Instagram, LinkedIn, X and Facebook, as well as our monthly newsletter.

  1. Celebrate Creativity Together: Summer Festival

The Lapidus Summer Festival is an enriching opportunity to meet fellow members, attend workshops, and explore your own creative practice. Whether you’re a long-time member or just dipping a toe in, it’s a gentle and welcoming way to connect.

Coming soon: 2025 workshop programme announced soon.

  1. Explore the Research Database

Curated by research practitioner Kate McBarron, our research database is a goldmine of studies, books and resources related to writing for wellbeing. If you’re working on a project, writing a paper, or just hungry to learn, this is a brilliant place to start.

  1. Find Your People: Local Groups

Writing can be solitary-but it doesn’t have to be. Lapidus local groups offer connection, inspiration and shared purpose. Some are informal, others workshop-focused, but all are rooted in the value of words to support wellbeing.

Grounded in Values

Writing for wellbeing is grounded in inclusion, listening, and creative freedom. It thrives when all voices are not only heard but actively welcomed and celebrated. Many of us bring diverse strengths and lived experiences to this work-perspectives that deepen our insight and strengthen our compassion and are actively harnessed through therapeutic and creative writing practice.

We also aim to showcase creative approaches that make writing actively inclusive-across literacy levels, learning styles, and lived experience-drawing on the rich tools of the wider therapeutic arts.

These values shape my work-and many others in the Lapidus community, too.

Together we write for ourselves.

We write for each other.

We write for wellbeing.
